Assuring and closing out a converged backbone on a flagship rail programme.
Challenge.
The Elizabeth line's £43m communications and control systems contract (C660) required rigorous test, assurance and third-party interface management.
This was necessary to reach clean handover across 10 new central stations and 42km of twin-bored tunnels on one of the largest rail programmes in the UK.
Approach.
As Data Network Test and Commissioning Engineer, we wrote and executed test plans, and provided design assurance.
We managed third-party interfaces and drove close-out for the IP-based dual 10Gbps resilient rings through to operational handover.
Scope of work.
- Data network test plan authorship and execution.
- Design assurance for dual 10Gbps IP rings.
- Third-party interface management.
- Commissioning and integration oversight.
- Defect resolution and operational handover close-out.
Outcome.
An assured, closed-out data communications backbone, handed over through structured test and third-party interface management.
